I'm only 17 and all my friends know about cars and what makes em run. I'm always embarrassed cause I don't know anything about them and I want to learn. You could tell me to find something under the hood and I wouldn't know what it was called or what it did or where it was.

No one ever taught me about them. Is there any advice or is there a site anyone knows of that could teach me more about it.

Get with one of your friends the next time they are tuning/whatever and ask questions. Ask if you can help, if they will guide you. Best way to learn is to do. Local vo tech schools also offer auto mechaninc type classes. These are a good start as well.

Well, to get a basic run down on motors in general, you could read through www.howstuffworks.com Just type in "engine", should give you like a 9 page article. After you've got the basic understanding of how they work, you can get specific, and start learning about certain motors (like Honda motors, for instance )

The best thing you can do is read read read, and whenever you get a chance, do something to your car. Start with easy things like changing your spark plugs. Then maybe do your own oil change. Eventually you'll probably want to mod it, so put an intake and exhaust on it. Before you know it you'll be hooking a full turbo up to that beast

find out if your high school has any autobody or automotive maintenance classes.

if not, i'm pretty sure a nearby community college will.
