Engine Hesitates At Low RPM after Start-up
This has really got me baffled.. Most of the time when I start the car either cold or warm, when the engine is in gear and the rpms are low for that gear, it will start to hesitate as if it is not getting any fuel. I give it some gas, downshift, or floor itand it is fine. It goes away, for the most part, after about 5 mins. of driving. I thought it was the fuel filter but it is new, so is the fuel pump.. I even put in some Sea Foam in the tank, run for 200 miles, but still the same problem..
Now, I have noticed a gas smell every time the car has been sitting for a while, but cant detect any leaks - liquid drops.. It also back fires a bit when decelerating... ???

Thanks riceburner700- I did not know of the FP relay, is this located under the hood? I'll see if I can find it in the Chilton's.. I do have a FP gauge but it is located under the hood on top of the Fuel Filter... kinda hard to see it while driving... just hitting the throttle while the car is still, the pressure is around 42lbs and goes up just a bit when accel the cable - I guess that is normal...
I still don't know where the fuel smell on start-up is coming from, no visible leaks. I don't know if this is something like a vac hose leak, or charcoal canister type smell but it is noticible outside the car.
