My engine has developed this really awesome knock. It's worst when the engine is cold, then goes away as the engine heats up. By the time I get to the interstate, it's gone. I just rolled over 100K a couple of weeks ago. Think this engine is on the way out? Is there anything I can do?

 

Replace the timing belt, its normally scheduled for 90k miles.

 

yeah i have a same problem before i just change it last month just change the timing belt and thats it. change it immediately before something worst happen to your engine amigo

 

That was my next major thing. I was waiting for a check to come in so I could afford to do that, though. The thing is that I was going to have them repaint the hood and front bumper at the same time, but I was going to buy a new grille before I sent it to the shop. Is it going to kill me to wait a week or so?

 

I would highly recommend doing it ASAP, especially if the other things are cosmetic. Knock is a sign of bad things to come.

 

i would have your valves adjusted also if have not done that yet!!!
