Default engine light

I had my car serviced for the idle control valve and the engine light came back on but the car is running fine, how turn it off?

You can try resetting the engine light by disconnecting the battery terminals and touching them together for about 30 seconds. If there is still an engine problem, the engine light will probably come back on after a bit.

only disconnect the negative terminal and touch it to the positive, it only takes a second. it drains the capacitors in the ecu, resetting it.

Just take it to autozone or the such where they do free engine diagnostics and have them run it then ask them to reset it for ya. That's what I do.

I dont know about you, but i have a 97 Honda Passport and the engine light came on a few month ago and i didn't do anything it. Didn't even get it check. So i just drive around with the engine light on and about 2wks later the engine light just turn off on it own without me doing anything.

Check all the vaccuum hoses and see if there is one that is cracked or disconnected, that usually causes the engine light to come on. it doesn't do ne thing to the car right away but if left unchecked you could have severe engine problems down the road, cuz a vaccuum leak cuases a # of things to read wrong so like if your mixture is off do to vaccuum leaks the engine gets a build up of carbon.The timing could be off because of vaccuum leaks so I'd just check for ne loose vaccuum hoses and reconnect 'em.........[:'(][&:]
