Engine overheating problems
Hello, a few months back I bought a '95 Civic DX (1.6L 4door) and just recently (few weeks) I have been seeing some weird cooling issues. It runs just under the halfway mark of the gauge, just the second I hit 60mph it slowly climbs up until I turn the heater on full blast, I have not let it go extremely high, but I don;t know where the top limit is, with the heater on it steadies at about 3/4 of the gauge. Any ideas of the weak point of my cooling system that is causing this so I can at least have a starting point?

i have a similar problem, but for some reason when i go over 75 mph, for over 15 min the needle starts to go up, havent tried anything, but good luck with u, hope u find the resolution
If your gauge creeps up slowly and turning on the heater helps, you may just have a worn water pump. A new thermostat may improve the symptom initially. The blades/impellars (spell?) of the water pump will erode over time. If the car has ever had dirty rusty looking coolant or only mostly water in it for a long time the pump will go bad. If you are anywhere near time for a timing belt change, do the water pump too.
Hmm, it didn't look like there were any contaminants when I was messing around the first time, so I will try the thermostat first and see if I see any problems anywhere else. Im still open to suggestions and ideas since I have not done too much with cooling systems in cars.

has it been working fine since u changed the thermostat and how long ago was this?

My temp would creep up on the freeway and it was the thermostat.
