Hey, my civic has 210 thousand miles on it, but it still runs great. I would like to keep it that way for as long as possible too, but still have a little fun with it (don't have money for a new engine!) I get it regularly serviced and everything, keep tabs on the oil (doesn't burn any) but I get nervous if I get into the upper range RPM's. I don't rev the car past 6,000 RPM, but I was wondering if 6,000 is a safe range to be at with this engine. I know it has a redline of 7800, so is that safe? Any feedback on this would be great. Thanks!

 

wait, a 94 VTEC with a 7800 redline? i think you have JDM gauges bro, post a pic of them if you get a chance.

 

Okay well I don't know if my guages are JDM or not, but I got some pics of them. I also got some pics of my engine while I was at it! I was very tempted by the RPM guage, and thought it possible that whoever owned this car before me made it so the car could actually rev that high. I didn't get to 7800 because I didn't want to push the car that far, but I did get it to over 7K RPM before I backed off the throttle (I know I shouldn't have, but hey)

That's a 7,200 redline, not 7,800.

 

oooooh, somewhere I read that the 94 VTEC had a 6600 redline. My mistake! (the red line starts at around 7200, but the actual red bar is farther than that?)

 

No, you're getting the redline confused with the peak power speed. The D16Z6 makes peak power at 6,600, but redlines at 7,200.

 

PLEASE take that APC sticker off ur car and torch it.
