engine removal

anyone know if you can take the engine out of a 92 civic with out having to take the transmission out

yeah you just have to lift the engine side up first and the transmission will follow

I think that he doesn't want to take out the transmission at all.

Yes, you can. There's enough clearance on the crank end so you can slide it out and clear the bellhousing and input shaft with the pressure plate.

But also put a jack under the trans to give it a and good support when seprating engine and trans.
