I need to replace the engine in my 92 civic, 1.5l. not a v tec motor. Car has an auto tranny. I'd prefer to keep it automatic...its my DD

I would like to keep spending to under 1500, I can do all of the work.

What are my swap options? Please list extent of each swap, like, do I have to change wiring harness, mounts, ECU, tranny, cooling system, etc, etc. I dont want to get into significant splicing and rewiring, I'd rather plug and play as much as possible, time will belimitedto get the swap done once the worn out engine is out.Thanks

 

just goto the junk yard and get an acura integra ls most come with auto tranny.
or put a zc motor in it.bolts up to ur tranny.

easiest is to get zc and put in .

 

I've got a 95 DX automatic daily driver. It had a D15B7, non VTEC of course,that needed replaced (for more than one reason). I bought one the D15B non-vtec JDM engine with low miles. It looked new, no joke. Not even a scratch on the bottom of the oil pan. Came out of an importer in Gainesville, FL. Extremely easy swap and way under your $1500. Just a no-brainer all the way. I used my intake, tranny, and exhaust, alternator, etc. And it fired right up on the first try.I was going to go to a junkyard too, but everything they hadlooked pretty rough with lots of "leaks" and "crud" and who knows how many miles they had on them. I have been driving it for over a year now with zero problems. It feels quite a bit stronger than the old B7 too.

 

What is the difference between the D15B7 and the D15B?

Was the importer you bought the motor from on ebay?

 

d15b is the jdm vtec model, and the d15b7 is the usdm non vtec model, to the poster i prefer you go with a d-series motor such as the d16y8,d16z6 or the original d15b7, that is if your not looking for hp and only for dd... you can findo ne that will bolt up to ur auto tranny for probably around $500

 

He is on eBay now yes. It's either in Gainsville or Ocala, now I can't remember. I had it shipped to a shop. To the other comment, Honda Japan offered both a VTEC and non-VTEC versions of this engine. And to add to that there was a single vtecand dual vtec version of the VTEC motor. Just do a Google search for "D15B non vtec" and you'll get tons of results.It is a short stroke 1.6 basically. It uses most of the same parts as the D15B7, of course some of the internals are different. The nice thing about them is the low milage clean engine you'll get. It's not much, if any, HP gain or anything like that. Bolts right up to everything with no modifications. .
