Did you clean it because it is a K&N/reusable filter? If it is a paper filter from an auto parts store and you cleaned it, that doesn't mean it isn't restricting airflow anymore. Sure, you can blow off a lot of loose dust and larger particles from them, but smaller particles will saturate the element over time to point where it simply has to be replaced. Also, did you spend over $600 hoping to fix the poor gas mileage, or did the gas mileage drop after the repairs?

It is a K&N.

I spent the $600 on replacing a timing belt (and water pump while I was at it) that was WAYY OVER DUE, along with the rest of the stuff I mentioned, hoping collectively, my problem would be solved. Now its a little worse than before???

With my gas mileage issues being so extreme, I figured maybe someone has seen this and it would be identifiable, like a bad M.A.P. sensor or other sensor possibly??? I just didn't want to throw anymore money at it without consulting with HCF first.

Make sure your cat isn't clogged, it won't throw a code but it sure as hell will destroy your MPG.

it is obd-2 though so it has an oxygen sensor in front and in back of the cat, what i would do is drive the car around at night and then get out while the car is running and look under the car at the cat, if its glowing then its clogged....

The car is not burning any oil.

The clutch was changed about 6 months ago.

The timing was checked and set by the shop last week.

I haven't done a compression check, dry or wet. (I don't know the difference.)

I changed the O2 Sensor closest to the head about 6 months back. The cats on the car are original. I will check the cat like you said tonight. Thats a good idea.

I checked the cat last night when I got home, but there was no sign of it "glowing red."

I have checked a couple times for vaccum leaks, but I will check the PCV hose specifically.

I have one of those autometer Air/Fuel Gauges that has the flashing light that reads exhaust temperature(I'm guessing.) It use to read reliably. When I would first start the car, it would read "rich", and when I would get on it, it would read "rich." Now, the thing almost constantly reads WAY LEAN, even when I first start the car. Does this help any?
