Default Fuel Pump Problem

Hi, when I turn my key into the (II) position, the fuel pump usually gives a whirring sound. However, the pump doesn't "whirr" right away when I turn the car on after it rains. I mean, eventually, if I leave it in the on position for a time it eventually whirrs. I noticed that it ususally does this after it rains, so would it be that there is a connection that is getting moist...or something.

Thanks for your help,
--Joe

Do you have any water inside the cabin? I would also check under the car for any stripped connections.

why would water in the cabin do anything? would no air stop the fuel pump from doing its job?

Wires (for the fuel pump) are run through the cabin (scratch the thing about wires outside the car) so if you have water inside the cabin and the wires are broken the water will interfere with the wires. And i believe that if you have air going through the fuel pump(especially alot of it), it will cause the fuel pump to wear out since gasoline lubricates the internal parts of the fuel pump.
