Default Fuel Pump and Starting Problems

I own a 'project' honda civic that is comprised of an engine from a 93 and a body from a 92, usually doesn't matter, but i just want to throw it in for reference. This car ran great for a number of years, but starting having problems as soon as i got it shipped from Washington to South Carolina due to military. It sat for a year during this time. I have replaced the alternator, Starter Assembly, AC Compressor, Fuel Filter, and Fuel Pump, as well as installed a newer Main Relay and recently had new tires and an alignment done. Also recently was a 1000 mile trip from South Carolina to New York due to a PCS. It also has a push-button start due to the fact it won't start when the clutch is depressed and the key is turned. There is the filler, hope it provides the necessary information.

Now, onto the problem. a few weeks ago, the car started to start then die for no reason, it didn't take me long to figure out i couldn't hear the fuel pump cycling on and off when i turned the key to on. I checked all connections on the fuel pump, cleaned what corrosion was on them, and it seemed to help, but the problem still persists.

I took out the old main relay, checked it, and found it had continuity but figured maybe it was just getting old, so i threw in the other relay from the car the engine came from, but that neither helped nor hindered.

Now sometimes it will start, catch, then immediately die due to lack of fuel because the fuel pump will not stay on, even though it will run when the key is turned to on. In this case, the only way to start it is to leave the key in on, and unplug the main relay, then plug it back in, and every time you do this the fuel pump will cycle, but you have to repeat it until the car actually starts and continues to run.

Has anyone had this problem or know what is causing it? I can hardly trust my car to get started half the time!

Thanks for any help
