Default Fuel tank not accepting fuel-05 Civic

I don't know how to search the forum. and I haven't had any problems with my Civic until this.

I jacked the car up and changed the front brakes. Then drove 180 miles and was only able to put 3 gallons before it actually overflowed. I'm thinking I somehow trap air into a a baffle in the fuel tank and that caused it to only allow for the three gallons of gas. I don't believe that changing brakes suddenly gets me to 60 MPG on the highway. As I don't drive the car much, it will take awhile for me to use up the remaining gas in the car. I'm hoping that if I get it rather empty, the fuel gauge will come off full and I'll be able to fill it properly. There are no engine lights or codes. Could I have doen anything else. The car tank was rather full when I lifted the car.

How full was the tank when you filled it up. I dont believe that the baffles cause air pockets like that, they are ment more to keep the fuel from sloshing in the tank and usually have holes in the top and bottom to let the fuel flow properly to the pump

I put about 180 miles since the last fill. It would only go 3 gallons before it was starting to spill out of the gas intake. The car was completely empty, no cargo. I don't think changing the brakes would get 60+ MPG.
