Default GAS GAUGE

DONT KNOW IF IM PUTTIN THIS IN THE RIGHT SPOT SO SORRY. BUT MY GAS GAUGE SAYS FULL ALMOST ALL THE TIME THAN I HIT A BUMP OR EVEN ON ITSELF IT GOES TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE THAN SHOOTS BACK UP TO FULL. WHAT WOULD BE THE PROBLE THAT CAUSES THIS.

im guessing its you fuel guage sending unit or the float isnt working properly in the tank its either stuck of full of fuel they get bad sometimes you could look into replacing it check prices at the auto parts store.

It could be that there is a broken wire. That would be correct if a full tank send a 0V signal to the guage. In that case, you would have to track the voltage from the tank and see where you get a reading of 12V.

Just curious if the low fuel light works normally. If that light works then the Fuel gauge sending unit is working and it could be a wiring issue. If that light is not working with a lo fuel level then you've isolated the problem to the sending unit. If it was a ground issue then you'd most likely see a problem with the fuel gauge, Coolant temp, Tach and Speedo.

DONT KNOW NEVER LET IT GET THAT LOW I LET IT GET TO WHERE THNE CAR HESITATES TO START THAN I FILL IT UP

mine does that also it only works when it gets really cold outside but after the car warms up it goes to full it is the sending unit i'm just to lazy to change it

sounds like a bad ground for your gauge
