Question Gas Tank Question?????

How does a person siphon the gas out of a gas tank on my 90 Civic? I tried to get a 3/8" hose down into the gas tank through the filler neck. I got it in but for whatever reason I can not get it into the gas & I know there is 10 Gallons in a 12 gallon tank. Is there a baffle that is kicking the hose up or a screen?

Thanks.

If it was me, I would take fuel supply line to the engine and place poly-fuel-tank to catch fuel. Then, hot wire the on-board fuel pump to take out the fuel. Make sure you have a fire bottle handy.

If you are replacing in-tank-fuel-pump because of it INOP, remove that pump and you will have access to fuel from the hole, provided the fuel level is not above the pump opening.

I was just wondering,,,,

I am sure there are people with years and years of experience working on cars here who will be able to answer your question.

OK, Thanks for your advise. I was just wanting to get the gas out to use it in another vehicle. Heck gas is $3.159 here.
Thanks

There is a drain plug on the bottom of the tank.

Haynes SM mention about a drain plug, but it says "if the tank has,,,,." I wasn't sure if his car has one.

Even if it has one, I would not like to use it if the car was on the ground with jack stands only, to drain 10 gallons of auto fuel. I would have two fire bottles ready, one for the car and other for myself.
