I think I have a valve cover gasket leaking but I am not sure. I am losing some oil between changes and I notice alot running down the motor behind the exhaustmanifold. I was wondering what is the preferred gasket brand by all of you. I have a 98 HX it has alot of miles and is an everyday driver so I need to keep it in good shape. Also if anyone knows where I could get a decent D16Y5 engine reasonable please let me know. Thanks for all the help.

 

Get OEM Honda gasket from the dealership. Check to see if it's coming from the vtec solenoid (cylindrical part next to the valve cover). Theres a gasket inside that too that could have gone bad.

what i would do is hose down the engine bay with a garden hose, run your engine at idle for a few minutes, rev it a few times while checking the engine bay to figure out precisely where the leak is coming from. If you can't spot a leak drive it down the road and back and take another look.
