General AC Not working question
Alirght its 98 civic dx i had the compressor check and works fine , had it filled and recharged no leaks checked all switchs and relays they are all fine and checked fan and its good as well any idea what else it may be like you can feel the fan blowing in hot air thats all so any idea please let me know???
Same problem here. Maybe someone will help out.
Do your RPMs go higher when you turn the AC on?
Do you hear the click sound when the AC is turned on (the sound is above the compressor, besides the driver taillinght)?

Start the car, turn on A/C and look under the hood.
First check if the compressor engages. The plate on the very end of the compressor with the pulley will turn with the pulley while it is engaged, and sit still if it is not.
Make sure the fans on the radiator/condenser are running.
Finally if the compressor is engaged and the fans are OK, touch the larger pipe going to the compressor. It should be cold. (The smaller pipe at the compressor should be hot, possibly hot enough to burn you, so be careful).
If the pipe is cold, it should be cold inside the car too. If hot air is coming out, it means the controls in the car are messed up and the air is being reheated by the heater after being cooled by the A/C.

Just to clarify, the pipe that is Low side (the plastic cap on it says L) should be cold. The other pipe (High side, H on plastic) should be hot (careful not to burn yourself).
You can check this too. Stop the engine and locate the compressor (under the power steering pulley). Then locate the compressor's pulley. Now, looking down on it from the front of the car (your head towards the windshield direction), look at the compressor's pulley, at the right-hand side. So, from left to right, you have the compressor, the pulley with the belt and the clutch disk. The clutch disk is the one with screws in it, visible when looked at it from above (look just under the power steering pulley).
So, hopefully you located it. That clutch disk should rotate when the engine is rotating AND the AC is turned on. If it doesn't, then you should check the electrical stuff before that. Post here and I'll guide you.
If you want, I can post a picture of the clutch (I got a 97 Civic EX/automatic/4door).

something that most people don't think about is the cable to adjustfor hot to cold. look up under the passenger side and you will see a cable (like an adjustment cable, not an electrical wire)connected to the hot/cold valve and held in place by a clip (sry dont know what its really called)and if this is not adjusted correctly then the valve doesn't switch to cold even if the hvac is pushed all the way to cold.
what you got to do is put the hvac (air conditioner controls) all the way to cold, then under the dash on the passenger side find the cable and pull the cable out of the clip, make sure the valve is completely closed by pulling it toward the rear of the car, and pull the cable tight, and place it back in the clip so that the valve is closed, and the cable is pulled with no slack. bottom pic has clip and valve labeled.
