Have you removed your transmission? I need your help
I'm trying to remove the transmission to change my clutch on my 96 civic.
I rounded off one of the bolts that is attached to the 'stiffener arm', the piece on the bottom of the trans that has two arms that attach to the engine block, it has a plastic dust cover between it and the transmission. This looks to be a separate piece, so I unbolted it from the block hoping to remove it attached to the transmission. The trans is separating from the engine a good bit at the top, but seems stuck, I can't wiggle it at all.
Does this stiffener arm need to come off? That would suck, that bolt head is rusty toast. Any ideas of what this could be stuck on?

Can you get a picture of what you are describing by chance? If the trans is coming off near the top, but stuck on the bottom, verify the rear transmission bracket is disconnected, as well as the flywheel inspection plate. Not sure if you need to take the inspection plate off, but I have always done it at least.
Do you have access to a pry bar/big flathead screwdriver? In my opinion, that is the easiest way to begin the removal process. After it is separated, you should be able to wiggle it off.

'Inspection plate' makes sense...It seems to be separate, and if I took that off and the plastic piece I'd assume I could see the flywheel. This piece has moved away from the engine with the transmission.
I'll check the brackets again, but I can't see anything (right now) that still has a bolt in it.
The transmission is separated, it jsut won't go any farther. It's stuck SOLID. I can move the engine up and down by moving the transmission.

You can unbolt the engine tq mount that is on the driver side front side. This will give you more room to tilt the motor downwards and pull the trans and motor apart. Just be sure to keep the engine supported with a jack while you are separating everything.
remove the starter and the trans has six bolts holding it to the moto unbolt then remove the inspection plate make sure you already took out the spindle nuts and cv axles on both sides. remove the bolt for the motor mount. wiring as well. support the trans take a pry bar or long tough screw driver as pry against the fly wheel should break loose.
