Default having trouble with boost?

Ok i just bought my friends 98 civic with a t4 turbo but he never had it running any boost it runs like maybe 2psi because he had it put on and the guy never finished working on his car so i was just wondering what i would have to do to get it running some boost and its automatic and i heard from a lot of people that its not good to have a turboed civic with auto but i dont know just looking for some answers and help thanks??

a turbo is going to TEAR UP your automatic transmission. especially when it starts to see boost.

well.....we need more details.....how far did he get? How much of the system is done? Exhuats manifold? Turbo mounted? IC/charge piping? BOV? Internal/external wastegate? And whats the ECU situation? We need ALOT more info man

Ok so what about the boost? and i want to get a tranny swap anyways cuz i like standard every car i have owned has been standard so i was planning on getting it swaped anyways but was just curious bout the auto tranny!

ya all that stuff has been put in the only thing i think he said that he had to do but never did was the ecu? so that could be the issue?

well thats a major part, you need to convert your ECU from OBD2 to OBD1, get a P28 ECU and have it chipped/tuned at a dyno. A tune is somethign you cant cheap out on or cut corners with, dont drive your car around without a tune. Research research research ECU tuning so you know what your doing

and as for auto, boosting an auto is possible, Pete's boosted D was auto wasnt it?

you can get a conversion harness and the correct ECU you need. Each dyno charges differently, maybe about $100 an hour, and 3 - 4 hours should give you a real good tune. Ask the guy about the ECU, if he did anything to it.
