Default heater fan 1990 civic

1990 civic dx
heater fan recently died. The car has ac

i looked at changing the fan but the fan wont come out of the box not enough clearance. looks like i may have to pull the ac box out of the way and then i get the fan box out to remove the fan.

Is there an easier way i dont want to unhook the ac lines

Thanks

I did it once on a 91 hatch......just broke a couple of veins out of the squrrel fan......but the proper procedure is to tear everything out.

I have an 88 that is near dead and I am planning to rip it out like the 91....I'll let you know what happens.

I have 1990 Hatch and its fan motor was replaced last year. This car does not have A/C and, of course, A/C line was not a concern. The A/C line should have some play at the fire wall so that evaporator can be wiggled and give enough room for the fan motor to be extracted. i think it would take a lot of force to make those line to leak refrigerant.
