Default Heater problem

Well over the summer my thermostat went wacko and found out I needed to replace the thermostat and problem fixed, but now my heat is not very hot. Like the car and thermostat warm up to normal but the air coming from the vents only get about 80% warm and should be much hotter. Problems?

maybe that flap thing the wire pulls from the heater core didn't open all the way?? (in engine bay near fire wall) or your thermostat has to break in still... (stiff new spring) just a thought.

Did the heater issues come about as soon as the new Tstat was installed? What temp tstat was put in? Was it OEM Honda?

The only other thing I can think of is the heater core being blocked, or the valve not opening all the way.

Yes my heat last winter blew nice and hot, but the second I put in the new thermostat it went bad, and not sure I know it was from Autozone so not OEM and not sure of the temp!

Replace it with one from the dealership would be my suggestion.

Many Tstats from places like Autozone can fail immediately. Either that, or you went with a Tstat which is too low of a temp.

Alright thanks man, so if I go to an OEM site and order one, what temperature should I look for?

There shouldnt be choices. The Honda Tstat is a Honda Tstat. I believe the temp is 180. That is what shows on Hondata when I am tuning etc.

While you have the system drained to replace the thermostat, disconnect the heater hoses from the engine and use a garden hose to flush the heater core just to be sure it is clear. Dial must be on hot to open the valve, then flow it both ways.
