Help - 01 Civic intermitent engine running Problem
My 01 Civic has had an intermittent problem that occurs when I’m driving 30+ miles at 70MPH. It has happened 5 times over the last 2 months. I will be driving down the interstate and suddenly loose power. I pull over and the car is still running but very rough. If I try to rev up the motor it only goes to 3k RPM’s and then when I let off the accelerator I can hear it backfire. If I try to drive the car cannot even get going above 20 MPH. If I shut the car off and wait 10-15 minutes, the car starts back up and runs fine.
First I had the gas pump relay replaced and that did not help. Last I had the fuel pump replaced and that did not solve the problem.
The problem is not consistent. Any ideas I can share w/ my mechanic would be greatly appreciated.

Check your cooling system. Pull your thermostat out, drop it in a pot of boiling water. If it opens up wide, it's not the problem. If it opens just a little bit it or not at all it's toast. Get an OEMHondathermostat (I can't stress this enough).
Hope this helps
