Default Help identifying the part

It snowed heavily last week. A big plastic thing under the car and near to the front tires broke in to two pieces when I drove over the snow in the parking lot. I had to cut it with a pair of pliers when it started making noise on the road.

What is this piece? I will try to take picture and attach it here when I get home.
