Help me settle a long-running debate
My sister keeps trying to tell me that silver and magnesium metallic cars never show scratches. I tell her that it is completely untrue but she keeps insisting. She thinks these colors are immune to showing the appearance of scratching when I can't think of how that's possible. The reason I ask is also because i have a magnesium metallic car that has obvious impact damage on it, but the sister thinks that if someone were to key or something that the scratch would be there but it wouldn't show up. That doesnt make sense to me. Why would some colors show scratches really bad and others not? I don't get where she is getting this from...

RE: Help me settle a long-running debate
Prolly cuz the underlying bare metal is near to the same color as the paint! The scratch WILL be there, of course, but the paint being near to the same color will make the scratch nearly invisible until you get up really close or look at it from the side!

2 excellent posts 7 seconds apart.
as a related item, do not buy dark color cars if you live in a hot climate, such as here in austin texas. the heat will eat away the paint really bad. but light (example white or silver).
