Unhappy help - motor is bogging and won't rev above 3500 rpm

Two weeks ago I purchased a used 2001 Civic LX, 5 speed with 106K miles. My husband just replaced the plugs (not the wires), water pump, timing belt, new air cleaner, both 02 sensors, and the car just passed smog with flying colors. Well tonight while driving home, the motor started losing acceleration and power and now won't go over 3500 rpm. The check engine light has also come on. Any ideas? I'm at a loss... Thanks, Sandy

Take the car to AutoZone, where they will retrieve the CEL trouble code free of charge (or rent you a scan tool free of charge). Post the codes in this thread for more feedback.
