Hesitation
Im getting no check engine light, and my car at light throttle will hesitate around 2 grand and then again around 3....like its not getting gas or burning it. At idle it was always good until recently...it isnt too bad....just a bit more rough than normal. I changed my plugs, wires, fuel filter, dist cap, rotor, the whole works.....and it didnt change a bit? and ideas?
let me see, it has to be something to do with your fuel system, air intake system or ignition. I know you said you changed a few parts, but here is what I would do:
First, take out the spark plugs and double check the gaps. you mentioned you replaced them, but make sure you gapped them correctly. Also make sure you torque them down correctly as well.
Second, Check your timing. You replaced a good portion of the ignition system so make sure your timing is set.
Third, change the air filter, and clean the MAF sensor and the throttle body. The way to clean the sensor is with electronics safe cleaner. They sell them at most auto parts stors. Make sure you don't damage the sensor. Don't use any brushes or anything harsh. just the spray. For the TB use seafoam in a spray bottle. Take off the intake tube from the TB and place a rag on the bottom protion of the butterfly. this rag is used to both hold it open and get all the carbon deposit you will be taking off with the spray. Spray the seafoam in the TB and wipe it clean. Try to get as much of that black stuff off(especially around the butterfly area) as possible without letting too much of it go into the intake.(all done with car off)
Then, Use some seafoam in a bottle and disconnect the PCV valve hose. The instructions are on the seafoam bottle itself. This should be done with the car on and be advised it will throw smoke while it is cleaning.
Then throw some seafoam in the tank to clean out the injectors as best it can.(this works good to a certain point).
If you still get the hesitation, get your fuel system pressure tested and your injectors flow rate tested and professionally cleaned.
If all that still fails,.. we can look elsewhere. this should keep you busy for a while though. If you have any question let me know.
Oh and that seafoam stuff works wonders. Don't underestimate it. You will feel a difference in throttle response right away.
