High Oil Pressure

High Oil Pressure
Hi Guys! I have a 93 Civic HB with a D15B7. Recentley I have been trying to diagnose why it is using so much oil. I have replaced all seals including spark plug tube seals and valve stem seals. Has great compression, runs great, no misses or rough idle. Small amount of smoke. I was ready to say the oil rings on pistons are fried but I just installed a mechanically pressure gauge using an oil filter sandwhich block to tie in. Oil pressure reads 85psi to 90psi at idle and pegs when driving. If this is correct that would indicate maybe a plugged filter? anyway, can this high of oil pressure force oil past seals or rings that are normally OK? Any ideas or things to check?
Thanks!
Thanks!

You didn't put a new filter on? Do you know what viscosity oil is in use? Is your device measuring pressure before or after the filter?
The rings are not exposed to pressure from the oil pump. Smoke that gets worse when you floor it is the rings.

didn't change filter initially as it was fresh off an oil change so filter was pretty new. Have changed oil and filter since and no change in pressure. Oil line for pressure gauge is hooked up to sandwich spacer between the block and the filter. Smoke is light if at all and doesn't increase under acceleration. Seems like there is a lot of raw oil on the back of the car so it's definatley dumping oil out the tailpipe. Compression in 182 to 189 accross all cylinders but still could be oil rings I suppose.

Been checking all sources. PCV system is working. Sounding more like oil rings but I'm just not seeing the normal symptoms. Not much smoke, No misfires or rough idle, no oil soaked sparked plugs. In fact they are more white than black from getting so hot (from burning oil I would imagine). With everything I have done to this motor I hate to give up on it but bad rings, cracked block or head plus plugged oil passage or bad oil pump? who knows what else?: Might be time to consider swap?
