Look for cracks in the exhaust manifold, it's rather common on these models with the one piece manifold / converter assembly (parts 8, 3, and 4). If you idle the engine and stop up the tailpipe with a rag, there should not be hissing of exhaust leaking anywhere. A visual inspection would need to take the heat shield off-- that's the sheet metal part with the number 8 and the arrow on top of it in the picture.
The exhaust system starts at the header (under the aluminum heat shield about where the number 8 is) and below the header is the catalytic converter. Pull off the shield and look for any cracks in the header/cat unit or where the primary or secondary O2 sensors screw in or for a gap between the head and header.
I generally buy OEM timing and drive belts.
