Civicsare designed to be fuel economic daily drivers, not race cars.

Only way to make your car fast is through forced induction or a swap. However, you can make it very FUN and sporty with suspension work and some bolt ons.

There is some truth to what they're saying but it's not as cut and dry as that (aside from mybrokenblinker). Civics are very light cars.... so 200hp in a civic would be like 400hp in a chevelle. Your car prolly has 130hp stock in it. You wont be able to compete against much, unless you're prepared to put some money into it.You add performance parts likeI/H/E (intake, header, cat-back exhaust). You will runbetween 150-160hp. This will cost you between$600-$800.Then if you're prepared to spend even more money, nice cam gear, underdrive pulley's, turbo or nitrous, etc... You'll be able to get into that 250+hp bracket.

Or you could always swap out your engine to a dohc that comes with 200+ hp, add some bolt ons and such then run at 250hp plus.

Bolded area is definitely way off. You have to remember that when most people discuss HP numbers, it's whp (what you're actually putting down to the ground). Stock Civics claim 127hp, but thats at the crank. Toss a 100% stock civic on a dyno and it will probably be around 107whp. I/H/E upgrades net 10hp, at best. And there is absolutely no way in hell you're to break 150hp with just that. There are dudes that have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on these motors in hopes of building a nice N/A beast, but in reality they only end up making at BEST 150whp, and very little torque.

Some sort of F/I is really the only way to get these things moving fast enough to keep up with other sport compacts. A decent "home made turbo," with tune will run you around 2grand, and get you around ~200whp & ~160-170ft/lbs of torque. Thats usually enough to beatrun of the mill sport compacts. WIth my setup I walked a supercharged Passat, a stock Cobalt ss/sc, and held fairly tight withslightly modded WRX, but he didnt launch on me either..

Theres no way in hell he will hit 150 with I/H/E. Also the only 200+ HP DOHC Vtec out there would be a K-series. If you dont want todrop thousands of dollars into your car Toss some I/H/E on your ex and a nice suspension setup and be satisifed wiht the fun driving econobox you own. Otherwise slap a for sale sign on it.
