Default I need an alternator ASAP!!

My car started acting funny on Wed(August 1st).
Starting up the car is real sluggish and not smooth/quick like it usually is.
So, I thought something was up with the battery.

Come to find out, the battery is fine, but the amps are hella low.
The alternator is messing up everything.
At any rate,
AutoZone quoted the part at $150.
All I have to do is find someone to replace it.

Can someone give me an idea of how much I should be looking to spend for someone's labor.
Also, if you don't mind...
briefly explain the process of replacing the alternator so that I can get a better idea of what is going on.

Thanks in advance.

You can do it yourself, it's pretty straight forward. 12mm wrench and a half hour in the driveway should do it

I'm sorry...
duh,
95 ex coupe.

I wish I could do it myself,
but frankly I don't know the first thing about cars or the tools that you just mentioned.

In general when you pay a garage to change a part, you should have them obtain the part as well rather than buying it yourself. Though that often does cost more, you will have a warranty on the whole job that way. If there were to be a problem later and you had bought the part seperate, you can get trapped in the middle of an argument between the installer and the supplier as to whether the part was defective or it was improperly installed.

It's also possible the problem is not the alternator itself in the first place.

Very true, but the sucky part is that I can't figure it out for myself.
I've had very bad experiences with garages here,
so I don't want to go that route.
I'm just trying to ask around to see if there is anyone else that can do it.

If not, my only choice will be to take it to a garage... but that's my last resort.

Also, I don't have any friends or family that live here,
so that makes it even worse.
I have friends back at home that would do it for me for free.
