ignition problem please help
I just changed the thermostat and when i went to start the car i forgot to hook all the spark plug wires back up so i started the engine with only 3 spark plug wires the car stalled about 5 seconds later and isn't starting at all now, please help its a 93 ex.
Just checked and there is no spark, checked fuses all of them were good, took of dist cap, couldnt figure out how to get the damn rotor off but i noticed a orangish oil on the dist cover i don't know what that could be but im pretty sure it's not supposed to be there, im pretty sure it's the coil but im not sure, if so how do i got the rotor off and how do i check the coil?

RE: ignition problem please help
Make sure the plug wires are hooked up in the correct order.
For the no start problem, first check for blown fuses. If none is found, check whether you lack spark. To check for spark at each of plug, remove a plug wire and insert a good plug in the end of the wire. Have a buddy crank the engine while you ground the plug threads against a convenient metallic engine part. You should see a bright spark at the tip. Repeat for each plug wire. If you lack spark, you might have a bad coil or igniter unit in the distributor.

Also when you take the distributor cap off, make sure the plastic seperator plate is still there. You should see only the rotor and the top terminal of the coil, all the other parts are under the plate. Without that plate, sparks can jump around inside the distributor and damage the low-voltage parts.

Yeah the inner cover. Guess it's not so much of a plate as I remember it.
I'm thinking it could have been gone all along (these things happen when you buy a used car), it can run without it but it'll be more susceptible to damage from excessive voltage which happens when running with one of the spark plugs disconnected.
