Question Im Lost Please Help!

I have a 98 civic ex automatic, When i put the car in park it will rev up and down from 500 to 2500 rpm, and when i put it into drive then it sits still at 1200 rpm and i can feel it pulling forward cause of the high rpm. Ive heard alot about the iacv so i thought i would give it a shot and i can not find it. There is nothing attached to the back of my intake manifold. The weird thing is that it only acts up 3 or 4 days a week the rest it runs great. please help and thanks!!
