Improper ignition timing
Ive got a d16z6 block w/ d15b7 head spinning a d16a6 camshaft but having trouble w/ ignition timing when using timing gun. Timing marks on crank pulley is off about 2inchs from timing pointer.
Top and bottom both set properly but just having trouble getting accurate timing when pointer doesnt come within range of marks on crank pulley. Has anyone ever corrected this sort of issue? An output would be really appreciated.....

You have to put the test jumper on (like you would to read CEL codes) to set the ECU into test mode before setting the timing. The ECU will advance the timing by a large and variable amount off of the marks in normal run mode (no jumper).
Also make sure you have a key in the crank pulley slot, so the single TDC mark is really TDC.
