Wow, and Alaskan, cool. Welcome!

As for the block heater... no idea. It's been down to -20 with the wind around here before and I haven't any problem starting mine right up. It won't heat up at idle but it'll start.

Yea--it starts fine for here also, but up here in AK we can get some mean cold spells and starting a block that is -20 without a block heater can be bad juju--I found a block heater for her car for only $35 but still have no clue where it goes or how hard it is. Anyone else got any ideas?

Hi, welcome to the forum. I found the directions for you. Click on this link:
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...hidmodel=Civic
and where you see "HEATEr, ENGINE BLOCK" click on the Installation Instructions to download the PDF.

Getting a battery with more cold cranking amps is a good idea too. Optima Yellowtop is about the best you can get. It will definitely help turn that thing over.

Yeh, a yellowtop would be a nice add-on for that block heater.
