ya man theres a lot of people on the forum usinginexpensive ebay intakes with either a k&n or aem filter. and since that already comes with the k&n filter, you're good to go.

its not too hard, putting on an intake is the first thing that a lot of people do themselves. it was the first thing that i did. and the instructions prolly wont be that good for your specific car, so what i would doif i were you is search the forum for advice on you car. there has prolly been a thread that addresses what you are looking for.

my cold air took me about an hour, but that was the second time i had done an intake. i originally had a short ram. so if its your first thing to do, i would say 2-3 hours

haha looks like ebay has finally caught onto the "cheap tube w/ nice filter" setup yeah man thast perfect though, alot more convenient than two seperate orders, and install it usually a breeze. Might be a little more complicated on new gens but i think you'll be able to manage
