Default Intake leak question..

So i put a motor in my 2000 civic ex this weekend. The motor i bought was out of a 1996 ex. Since it was a manual trans car i used my intake. I bought a 2000 civic gasket and it leaks. I looked online an found out that the 2000 and 1996 gaskets are different. So i bought a 96 gasket. Should this fix my problem or is their something i am over looking?

Thanks

There are extra holes in the later model intake manifold. They will leak when trying to mate it with a 96-97 head no matter which gasket you use.

Some people have welded the holes shut. They don't do anything except help the engine idle smoother in cold weather.

I might look in to that. That sounds like alot less of a pain in the *** then swaping heads.
