JDM B18C Civic CEL not working + bouncing idle
So basically I have a b18c type r swap in my 99 civic sir, and out of the blue I noticed vtec was not engaging, followed by an idle that would bounce between 1500 and 2000 rpm. Car was idling steady at 900 rpm prior to this, and vtec was engaging. After that I noticed that my check engine light was not turning on when the car was turned to accessory, and after testing concluded it wasn't turning on at all. (disconnected several sensors) I'm thinking that this may be an ecu issue, and my car is throwing a code 0 which explains the no cel. Are there any test i can do before shelling out the money for a used ecu? Any input is very much appreciated!
Have you tested that the CEL bulb in the dash is actually working? From what I see, the CEL should turn on at some point. Do you have access to a scan tool/will that work or is your ECU OBD1?
This guy is showing a code 0 and the CEL stays on.
This guy has a CEL on and confirmed that his ECU was bad.

Thanks so much for the response! I have not tested the bulb, are they known to burn out? I havent had a CEL in over a year and just noticed it had stopped illuminating. How can I test the bulb without pulling the cluster, or is that necessary? And yes, my car is obd1, i was pulling codes with a paper clip before lol
