Last battery question HELP!!!
I have called almost 15 battery places here in Anchorage AK to get a yellowtop battery for my 2004 civic coupe since my alarm/remote start is causing some parasitic drain. No one carries the odd size yellowtop I need except one place who wants $210 for a new one. Can someone tell me if its possible to take the cover that goes around the battery and leave it off and stick a bigger battery in there? Also, I found a size larger redtop for $159, are these as good? I am running out of options and may just need to get an acid one again. Thanks

????????? Does anyone know what size yellowtop will fit right in there? They recommend the 51 series but they are not made anymore and I cant find one for sale. One store has a 34 series that might work. Any ideas--i know some of you use these.

I got quoted for an optima batter for about 175 bucks... I dont remember the size of battery but that is soo expensive for a battery... So I got one from a shop called les schwab and it works well for only 80 bucks... He said unless I am running some sound competitions with my car off I dont need such a performance battery... Sorry it took so long for someone to respond... and I didnt even answer the question.
yah bro they stoped making those batterys because once they lost their charge their was no coming back, i had one in my civic lasted for about a year and one day my car just wouldnt start and i tryed poppin the clutch still didnt work, i jumped it let the car run took it off and it would start back up, so good thing i had my acid battery still and i popped it in an charged it and it worked fine, and when i took back the optima they told be that was a common prob with that size batteryz, and they traded me for the best acid battery they had an it hasnt gave me any probs.
Yellow tops(deep cycle) are not really that good for street cars since they are meant to be run compeltly down and then recharged. Your car uses the battery for a little bit then recharges.
Thanks guys--well after leaving the stock battery overnight at a battery store, they said its good to go. So now it means I have to find the parasitic draw which is probably either the remote start/alarm or the cd player i just installed.
