Default learning the civic shuffle

Ok, I've been a Civic Si owner for all of 2 days now - and I love it so far! Here's a random assortment of questions that I have as I'm getting the car figured out:

- how do I access the corner lamp bulbs on the front headlight? does the whole unit have to be taken out first?
- when open, the driver side door won't lock unless the door release handle is held open ... the guy who sold it to me said that he thought it was some kind of import 'security' feature -- what's up with that?
- first time driving a 4-sp auto transmission ... is there any harm starting down the road in D3 and then shifting into D4 while in motion?

Ok, that's it for now. Thanks everybody, this is a great forum!

- what year?

- pretty sure it is suppose to be that way - will not lock the keys in the car

- no (just make sure you do not rev too high. i think the owners manual gives the speed (or rpm) that it shifts - well at least they do when explaining how to shift a manual)

Yup ... I live in Canada, and it is badged as an Si. That's good to know that it's an EX in disguise. So what are the differences, then, when I read threads on other 4th gen Si vehicles?

my civic is like that too... except i even need to hold the handle open to lock it while the door is shut. at first i thought it was a problem and took my door panel off and looked at everything... it all was fine.. so probably safety feature... maybe mine is safety gone wrong?

I have yet to see a Civic that DOESN"T have that feature... my dad's old 91 cx, my 93 CX, My dad's old 97 LX, my sister's 03 LX, and my dad's 04 Special Edition all have that feature.
