Car _ Honda Civic TDi SE 2.2 - 06 model with 70k on the clock.

I have a light grinding noise. and its cycles like when brake disk warp. Also, when i brake the noise disappears and when i accelerate the noise goes. its just when the car is coasting the noise happens.

When i brake to a stop and pull away normally the it a slight knock - but it doesn't affect performance. The garage at the moment think it could be a diff or a drive-shaft issue...

does anyone have any ideas?

 

Goes away when you brake lightly is probably a brake issue, such as the squeaker springs that warn you the pads are worn.

It wouldn't hurt to check the transmission fluid level and change it if you haven't been on a schedule.

 

the car was serviced about 2months ago.

the noise is deff getting worse. there are half full pads at the front. The garage i am using tell me that it could be Diff or driveshaft... what is interesting is that when i was there they jacked the front up and spun the wheels. No grinding noise - however, they cant run the car in the air as its too clever... and wont start (so i am told).

 

I'd still check the transmission fluid level-- it's possible that a leak has developed or the person who serviced it before made a mistake.

 

garage called me about 45 mins ago... its the Diff... Gutted.
