Default Loose Tie Rod

I have a 97 Civic LX, 4 cylinder, manual transmission with 175000+ miles. It's a great car and still runs wonderfully.

I had been hearing a faint noise when I turned right and the last time I had my oil changed the mechanic told me that the tie rod on my drivers side was loose.

He told me it wasn't serious, but I'd like to know if this is something I should be looking into having fixed.

Anyone who has previous experience with this and could provide some insight would really help ease my mind. I am handy enough to change my own oil, replace a stereo, etc. but this is out of my knowledge base.

I appreciate any help that you can offer. Thanks for taking time to help me out.

a tie rod isn't that expensive or hard to replace. just download the service manual for your car and look it up, it's a fairly simple install. don't forget to mark where the original thread position is though so you can match it with the new one so the alignment isn't horrible when you drive to get it aligned again.
