Low Idle with code
I have a 1998 honda civic ex auto trans. 130k miles. When push on the gas peddle the rpms go up very slowly. It only goes to 3k rpms then surges back down to almost 0 rpms. When I put it into drive it drives but very slowly and I have to push the gas peddle to the floor board. In reverse I have to use my foot like Fred Flintstone and give it a little help. My check engine light is on with P505. I have checked for vacuum leaks (none). I checked for air inside coolant (none). I did replace the PCV valve. I put my finger over the lower port inside the throttle body, the car dies. I have checked for leaks on my manifold gasket (none). I have taken off my iac valve and cleaned it. I verified the TPS with a volt meter (it was good).
Before I spend $200.00 for a new IACV, is there anything else it could be??

It's not the IACV. That only affects idling. You have a more major problem since it won't drive properly either. If the tach reads zero while the engine is turning, the ECU may not be getting proper pulses from the distributor.
I had a similar issue with my 00 ex. It felt like I was driving under water. You might try checking your MAP sensor. This partially fixed my problem, however I also had timing issues that needed to be fixed (cam timing was out as well). If you have a scanner you check what the MAP is reading and see if it's within spec in accordance with the service manual...(or spend 60-100 bucks to buy one haha.)
Good luck.
Hope you get it fixed.

This has become very frustrating. I'm getting a code with my check engine light P0505. Yet the problem might not be anything to do with the IACV. I think it might be best to get it towed to a shop with better scan tools.
