Low idle, EGR?
Hey guys-
I have a 99 Ex automatic. It idles low from time to time, and I know it has to either be the IACV or the EGR, but as I'm looking through literature, I don't see anything mentioning an EGR valve for an EX. Do they not have the system?
Sorry if this is a repeat question, just want to isolate some variables here.
Thanks-
K

I don't think its the tach, you can tell that the motor is vibrating a bit due to how low its idling. Also, I can feel the motor rev up from a lower RPM an engage the torque converter stall with a bit of a force because its reving up to get there.
I'm replacing the timing belt, idler pulley, water pump and thermostat (which I think remains open sometimes due to low temp readings) this weekend. I replaced the rotor, cap, wires and plugs a couple of weeks back.
Last, the car has a CAI on it (previous owner) I might take it back off and put the standard unit on it to isolate some variables. Is there any way I can clean the IACV or does it need to be replaced if its bad? I know it responds to temperature, so I would think if the car is running a bit cold it would raise the RPM, not lower it. I can't think of anything else in a non-egr car that would affect the idle other than the ECM.
Wonder what you guys think-

I have everything put bacik together, runs great! I think the low idle problem may have gone away, but may be too soon to tell. Didn't do it on my test drive.
I think the problem may have been in the CAI. The grommets that hold the vacuum tube and the sensor were cracked and old, I think when the car got hot they provided a decent vacuum leak. I installed the thermostat and stock intake system. Pretty satisfied with the results so far, but will probably clean out the IACV in the future when I get some time.
Thanks for the link-
