Default major braking vibrations!!

im having some serious problems with my breaking system... when i apply the brakes at high speeds there is some major vibrations going on... new brake pads and i just re-alligned the wheels... do i need to resurface my roters?? or get some sort of brake re-alignment?? or is it even my ABS speed chip things??

probably going to a certified mechanic for this one

You need to resurface the rotors. You can do this yourself if you know what you are doing. After removing the caliper, you need to remove the bracket that the caliper bolts on to. This is attached by two bolts. Once the bracket is off, you need to remove the two screws that are holding the rotor on. These screws can be discarded after you remove them as they are only needed to hold the rotor on during assembly. Once the screws are off, you can get the rotor off. If the rotor does not come off, there are two holes on which you can thread a bolt. As you turn the bolt, the bolt will push on the hub removing the rotor. Once the rotors are off, take it to an autoparts store that turns rotors. The guy at the parts store will measure the rotor and if the rotor can be cut, you can have it cut (its $7-$14 per rotor) or you can purchase a rotor (i think new rotors are like $20). There is a min thickness for rotors and if your rotor does not have enough metal, it cannot be cut. You might just want to get new rotors to avoid the hassle as they aren't that expensive anyway.

The reason your getting shakes is because your brakes and rotors are getting hot when you just apply a hot brake to a hot rotor your going to still stop but loose like 70% of your stoping power raplace brakes and get new rotors i recommend some brembo rotors and some akabono brake pads that right htere with brake pads like $140.00 bit pricey but isnt $140.00 worth your life? dont get the drilled and slotted brembo rotors get the regular ones brembo isnt warrantying drilled and slotted rotors anymore, brembo makes regular non-drilled slotted rotors

AgentofDarkness is correct - most AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts stores can turn rotors. If yours are still within specs, this will solve your issue. They should also have replacements on-hand if they bust the specs as well - and make sure they turn the new ones before you put them on your car... rotors can actually warp sitting on the shelf.

Brake rotors only get hot while braking, and they cool off while rolling with air flowing over them. The biggest cause of the rotors warping is rapid cooling and heating. Under normal braking conditions, this is not a huge thing that happens constantly. Usually after hard braking if the rotors are super-cooled (i.e. running through water while they're still hot) is when the most damage occurs.

Brembos are indeed pricey, and one could consider that a benchmark of quality. But in all honesty, the only way you'll notice the 'superior performance' of Brembo rotors is if you have larger wheels and wider tires. Brembo multi-piston calipers will give you more braking power... even with stock rotors because of having multiple pistons compressing the brake pads. But simply buying more expensive rotors won't really help much. The biggest effect on braking is contact patch of the tires - the more contact patch you have, the better braking. Stock wheels and tires won't have you stopping on a dime just because you paid more for your brake rotors.

As with everything else on Hondas (and other economy-minded cars in general): you don't need high-performance and/or racing quality gear for average daily driving. But if having the brand-name sticker for your windows means that much, then by all means, spend the money. I know I'm happy with the stopping ability of my stock brakes.

Also - if your rotors are gouged, get new pads as well. The higher-priced pads at the auto parts stores will also be worth it because they'll keep the brake dust down to a minimum... that's the biggest advantage to buying the higher priced (ceramic) pads. The cheap ones are made from a material (carbon metallic) that wears out faster... which is why the dust builds up faster.

The major cause of warped rotors for the everyday driver is overheating due to dragging brakes or improper driving (riding the brakes). Make sure your brakes aren't dragging or it'll just warp the rotor again. Drive for a few miles without using the brakes, then stop and get out and feel both front wheels for excessive heat. If one wheel is hotter than the other you have a dragging issue.
