Well I was minding my own business, driving from school, when the oil light comes on right when I stop at a red light. It went away the moment I stopped decelerating, so I thought that its not a big deal and I could just go home(2 more miles). Well the same thing repeated on three next red lights. I got home and checked the oil...there "appeared" to be a minimal acceptable amount in there. I was going to do an oil change anyway so I proceeded with that...to my great surprise all that drained back was about a quart...I filled if with fresh oil, put the new filter on, and wiped the spills off. I turned the engine on and let it idle for a few minutes, than I reved it for a few minutes, no visible leaks, so I waited 15 minutes and pulled the spark plugs, clean as new...there's a sludge buildup on the oilpan, so I suspect a gasket leaking there, but it doesn't drip. I always check under my car. Any thoughts on that?

 

how is it now? is it getting low again? do a compression test, you may have a bit of blow-by in the rings.

 

I haven't had a chance to drive it for more than 10 minutes since the oil change...I'll do a compression test tomorrow, but damn....couldn't have been worse timing for a major problem...

 

Drove it for 10 miles, again oil light comes up, there's almost no damn oil anywhere, no leaks can be found and no oil on the spark plugs...couldn't do a compression test today, but this doesn't seem right at all

 

r u smoking from ur muffler?

 

No smoke at all...and the engine is as smooth as ever...
