Need advice on '03 transmission. I'm a girl, please help!
Hi,
I just bought an '03 Civic Ex with a manual transmission from the Honda dealership. I needed an inexpensive but reliable car so I bought it even though it has 155,000 miles on it. They told me at the dealership that it was carefully checked over, and they wouldn't put it on the lot if it wasn't in good condition.
So... the problem is that the gears have a tendency to very grind slightly when I shift into 3rd. Otherwise, the transmission feels very stable and shifts smoothly. I can kind of play with it so that the grinding is minimal but I'm VERY worried.
Should I have not purchase this car? Is this the beginning of the end of the transmission? Tell me your thoughts!
I'm a girl and I live in Vegas and I need this car to be reliable!

Probably nothing to worry about. Refilling the transmission with fresh Honda Manual Transmission Fluid may help shifting. At least check the level. Be careful to push the clutch in all the way every time to avoid damaging the gears.
