Default Need some Wiring help.

I just got a del sol the other day, and i got a few questions...

1) the first thing i noticed was that the Radiator fan was always running, even when the car is cold.
i then looked under the hood and found out that the cables running from the fan where cut and extended... one goes from the fan to ground, and the other one goes here...

2) The del sol came with a d16z6 swap, but did not come with the new ECU. it came with the stock P06. Will i be able to pass emissions even tho its not the right ecu? or do i need the p28 ecu to be able to pass smog?

3) does anybody know what this is?

Thanks a lot!!!

Rad Fan: I'm guessing that there is a problem with the rad fan not coming on when it should, so the previous owner likely just wired it to come on whenever the ignition is in the "on" position. (I have done something similar for a temporary solution till I could resolve the problem). My guess is that the ETC (Engine Temp circuit) is the problem, but you'll have to do some troubleshooting to be sure.

ECU - no idea, someone else will have to help you

The thing on your windshield is likely the antenna for the alarm system.

Yeah thats wat i was guessing for the radiator fan.
i just need to figure out whats wrong with that lol. will any sensor from like a 92-99 civic work for my fan? or will it need its own special one?

yeah maybe thats what the antenna is, but its just wierd because the light on it never flashes or anything. lol

btw i really wanna know if having a d15b7 ecu will make me fail smog... i dont wanna go if its gonna be a straight up FAIL. lol

for the rad fan: first things first - make absolutely sure there is no air in the cooling system. For some reason on my car its a royal PAIN to get the air bled out properly. If there is air in the system, then the fan switch/ETC will not read properly and never turn on the rad fan. Also check the relay (swap it with one you know works). On my car (a 97, d16y7) the ETC sensor is screwed into the thermostat housing and its a 2 wire sensor. Once it reads a certain temperature it will close, and turn on the rad fan. Once you have the rad fan wired back to factory, you can unplug this sensor and put a jumper in to check the wiring and relay of the rad fan circuit.

Hope this helps

oh yeah, and I'm guessing the sensors may be different from 92-95, and 96-99. They might be the same, they might be different. You'd have to check that out.
