Default new to the forums, couple questions

Hi yall,

I just bought my 99 civic a few months back. Its a great car and Im really hapy with it, there are just a few things that are bothering me which i was hoping some of you could help me with.

1. I have a slight miss on acceleration. Ive visually checked my wires and spark plugs and they seem fine, so i was wondering if anyone had some tips to find the problem. To me it seems possibly linked to the rough idle problem Im having.
My haynes manual say 99 EX's should idle around 650ish, but mine will sometimes sit at 650, other times itll jump to 1200 or idle roughly at 1000. Very wierd to me.

2. sometimes i hear noise like flowing water when i accelerate uphill. just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this.

3. since Im new to the "tuner" side of cars, I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a good parts supplier. While building my Trans am I got most of my stuff from Summit or Jegs, and I was hoping for something along the liines of that kind of operation, only honda-ish. hope i got my point accross lol.

thanks!!!

1. try cleaning your IACV. there is a DIY in the DIY drivetrain section
2. that sounds bad and i have never heard of such a thing
3. passwordjdm.com, procivic.com, andysautosport.com, just to name a few large online stores. For the best deals on OEM parts go to hondaautomotiveparts.com

1) Replace the plugs and wires, and possibly the cap and rotor. It's impossible to be certain they are good from a visual check. Sometimes you can see sparking on the outside of the wires with the engine running in the dark, that means the wires are bad.

2) Probably you are low on radiator coolant. The sound you hear is air bubbles flowing with the coolant in the heater core. This can cause an uneven idle, and of course also destructive overheating.

Thanks for the advice, I havent even thought that it may be the antifreeze since i havent had heater or overheating issues.
