Default New here and need help!

Hello everyone, i have a 98 Honda Civic I believe its a LX and its an automatic 4 door. I have a CEL Code for P1259, i searched around and saw that it was a v-tech code but my engine is not v-tech, its a d16y7. i have a taken a few pictures to show everyone and hopefully a way to fix it because it cannot pass inspection =/

Looks like you have a y8 (vtec) intake manifold.

I would suggest to confirm the trim level of your car. They did make EX sedans, too. You have confirmed the engine code is in fact D16y7? It should be stamped onto the block where the transmission is bolted to.

Find your ECU. If you are running an EX, or vtec ECU, I can imagine you will see a CEL for that since the solenoid is non-existent on your motor.

If you reset the code, I don't think it is thrown again unless you were to rev the engine to 5500 rpm. Only then the ECU will try to engage VTEC and it would discover there is no VTEC.

vtec.

Get the code checked.

Can you pull off the passenger side kick panel and tell us what numbers/letters are on the side?
