Default New odometer...how many miles?

I acquired a 2004 Civic LX that had it's odometer replaced and there is no history of the original miles.

Does anyone have an idea as to how one could figure that out?

salvage vehicle maybe, electrical problem that required them to replace it? water dammage? either way there should be an origional mileage reading on the title from the previous sale this is if it has been sold more than once.

The original documents are signed verifying that purchaser knew mileage is unknown. I can't find a number written on anything. (I was not the purchaser of this car, but it belongs to my soon to be wife)

If I hooked it up to a computer/reader, could that tell me total miles on the vehicle?

Or does anyone know of any tricks? Maybe a mechanical component I could look at to get an idea of total mileage?

Thank you!

You can buy a carfax, they usually have milage readings. So you will probably get close to the real mile.
