Default Newbe Help!

I have a 2002 Civic SI and I do my own oil changes. The engine service light is on and my dealer won`t tell me how to turn it off. Some one told me to turn the key to acc. and hold the odo reset button for 10 seconds, is this right?? Thank you.

I actually need the procedure to trun the "Maintanance required" light off on my dash, not the "engine service" light. Sorry for the confusion.

Did you try resetting the ecu? To do this, disconnect the battery for about 15min. Same thing happens to my BMW. To reset the light, I have to short one of the sockets on the connector for the diagnostic tool.
